Mushroom Sauce

by admin

This is a quick and easy mushroom sauce that I have concocted using just soya milk and mushroom soup. If you want to use normal milk, feel free to do so, and if you want to make it even more mushroomy, stir fry some fresh mushrooms in a deep based pan in some olive oil, then make the mushroom sauce as per the instructions below.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 packet cream of mushroom sauce
  • 400ml milk of your choice – I normally use soya but you can use any milk
  • 4 tablespoons Flora margarine or any margarine made from seeds
  • 3 cloves garlic crushed

Directions

  1. Warm 300ml milk in a deep based pan, until it is close to boiling point
  2. Add the Flora margarine to the milk so it can melt
  3. Mix the 1/2 packet of mushroom soup with 100 ml of milk and add it to the almost boiling milk while stirring continuously
  4. Stir until the mixture gets thick to the consistency of a thickish cream
  5. If the mixture is too runny, add some more mushroom soup, pre-mixed with a bit of milk
  6. Once the mixture is of the right consistency, add the garlic to it and stir well

This is a delicious sauce that you can use for vegetables, potatoes, anything you would like to have a creamy consistency. It is cheap and easy to make.

Tips:

If you don’t like garlic, just omit the garlic
If you would like it even creamier, add some grated cheese to it
